Central Coast Outdoors

Beautiful Morro Bay and the surrounding Central Coast of California offers just about any activity you could possibly want. Within minutes of your room are guided hiking tours, self-guided nature walks, golfing, bicycle rentals, kayaking, sport fishing, whale-watching and horseback riding.

Montana De Oro State Park, less than 3 miles away, is the perfect place to start your adventure. Featuring rugged cliffs and secluded beaches, it's the perfect place to get away from it all. The park name "Mountain of Gold" comes from California poppies which blanket the park's hillsides in spring. The park has several hiking, biking and equestrian trails.

If fishing is your sport, the Central Coast is sometimes called the "world's largest fish trap." Virg's Landing, a veritable Central Coast landmark, offers unique fishing trips as well as whale watching excursions. Patriot Sportfishing offers albacore and salmon fishing trips and nature cruises.

Head east if golf is your game. Less than 10 miles east of Morro Bay, off of CA-1 Highway, the Dairy Creek Golf Course is the newest of three golf courses operated by the County of San Luis Obispo. Designed by John Harbottle, the architect of Stevinson Ranch, Genoa Lakes, the course is defined by Pennington Creek along the front-nine and the actual Dairy Creek that meanders through the back-nine. With incredible elevation changes, bent grass greens and tricky sea breezes, the golf course offers over 6500 yards of true golf challenge.
