Scenic San Luis Obispo County is home to two very distinct wine-producing regions.

Located between the soaring Los Padres National Forest and the Pacific Ocean, the distinct geography of the area creates specific micro-climates that provide ideal conditions for growing premium wine grapes. Over 60 wineries welcome visitors to taste award-winning wines and recent releases. In addition to year-round tasting, many wineries offer wine-lovers special dinners, concerts, harvest parties, and other events, and some offer tours explaining the winemaking process in detail.

There are many ways to spend a day in San Luis Obispo! Wine tasting among the beautiful hills, golf on lush and scenic courses, quiet walks on pristine beaches, peaceful country roads, and a mild, sunny climate year round; shopping, entertainment and the fine art shopping are also just moments away. If you are looking for excitement, entertainment or just a serene getaway, San Luis Obispo is the ideal location to escape and search for adventure.

Drink in the beauty of our rolling oak and vine covered coastal foothills while you sip award-winning vintages in our many tasting rooms.

Back Bay Inn is only a 20 minute drive from many renowned Edna Valley wineries, some of which have been in operation since the 1800’s and which feature tours, tasting and unique gift shops. Also, we are only 40 minutes from the Paso Robles/Templeton wine country.

Fall is the best time to visit the vineyards, as the color is astounding.
